Janette Humble
ARTIST BIO:
Following an eminent career as a classical musician, Janette Humble discovered the joy of soft pastels ten years ago. Whilst largely self taught she has attended workshops with renowned artists including Everet Ploeg, and master pastelists Tony Alain , Alain Picard and Grace Paleg. Janette’s artistic journey has been recognised with numerous first prizes and awards and she is regularly sought after as a solo exhibiting artist with works on permanent display at Art Innovations Gallery, Atelier Crafers gallery and Kruse Legal. Her work has featured prominently including appearances as a showcased artist in Blue Thumb, Ozart Finder and her own episode in the TV series Put Some Colour In Your Life. Her artistic focus gravitates towards the raw beauty and harsh realities of life in the outback as she continues to enrich the art world with her distinctive perspective and compelling artistic expression.
ARTIST STATEMENT:
I am a pastelist who is driven by a profound connection to the vibrant hues and narratives of the world around me. My art is heavily influenced by both my background in Symphony orchestras and many travels to the outback. I simplify the complexity of my observations into blocks of shapes and values and create depth with multiple layers of colours and textures alongside delicate glazes. With the bold application of colour, expressive mark making and a deliberate exploration of composition, I aim to create dynamic paintings infused with movement and energy. I want the viewer to experience the raw beauty, fragility and harsh realities of life outside the cities. My goal is to encourage the viewer to linger, to look deeper and reconsider their connection to the natural world. Rather than the negative I aim for them to rejoice in the resilience and magic of our natural landscapes and thereby inspire them to think more deeply about their role in the preservation of this world.
