Roe Gartelmann
Roe Gartelmann's paintings and drawings are in a variety of media. They include award winning w/c’s, oils and pastels, along with more experimental works in mixed media and acrylics. Many of these have also won awards or been selected for major shows such as the Waterhouse Art Prize.
Her works fall into 2 main categories; works painted on site (contemporary realism); and works developed in the studio which tend to be more abstract often developed from paintings and sketches done on site.
Many of the latter paintings will include added materials such as handmade papers acrylic mediums etc. Roe’s colour is vibrant and the works expressive and free; the main emphasis being on composition, tone, and a characteristic use of line.
