Nicole Black
Nicole Black is an artist based in the Adelaide Hills in South Australia.
As many good creative journeys begin, Nicole’s childhood obsession with making and creating was so established by the time it was time to decide on a pathway for study, pursuing art was an obvious choice. A combination of encouraging creative parents, after-school art classes and a general tendency to lock herself away to make or draw the latest idea resulted in this love of creation.
Fast forward a few years (and many marks later), Nicole has taken on studies in both Visual Arts and Graphic Design giving her confidence across various analogue and digital approaches. After living in Melbourne for five years, a return home in 2017 to the area she grew up in the Adelaide hills re-kindled her love for the details of nature and environmental concerns. Her work seeks to draw the eye to the intricacies and beauty of nature whilst also highlighting the fragility of our environment.
A multi-disciplinary approach to art-making sees her working on commercial projects- such as murals and illustrative work- to one-off paintings and commissions. On the side of these personal and commercial projects, Nicole has shared her love for the creative process through ongoing workshop and teaching appointments.

1988 Born in Adelaide, SA.
2011 Graduated with a Bachelor of Visual Arts from University of South Australia.
2014 Graduated with an Advanced Diploma of Graphic Design from CATC, MLB.
2015 Cert 4 in Training and Assessment.
